Confirmation Classes

Monday, June 20th, 2011

This program of faith formation helps 8th-9th grade youth grow in faith through hands-on mission, learning projects, mentoring, and fellowship with one another.  New participants and friends are ALWAYS welcome.   The structure and length of, as well as the ages included in, our confirmation program varies from year to year, depending upon the age distribution of our students and the preferences of their families.

Sunday School

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Our dynamic program for Pre-K thru 8th Grade begins at 10:30 AM. Our children and youth start their morning in worship with the adults– singing hymns, saying prayers, and participating in a Children’s Talk with the Pastor or Christian Education Associate. Around 10:45 AM, they leave for their Sunday School classes.

The PreK thru 5th Grade classes follow a workshop rotation curriculum called PowerXpress, which makes Bible stories come to life through art, music, science, cooking, games, storytelling and technology. Our adult teachers provide the materials and basic instructions, and the children take off into their own sensory learning experiences. Each class also includes a music session, and every child is part of our Children’s Choir, which sings during worship on the first Sunday of the month.

Our 6th thru 8th Grade youth learn from a curriculum called Jesus and His Kingdom of Equals, which focuses on the life and teachings of Jesus within the historical context of 1st century Jewish Palestine.  These students also enjoy quarterly field trips to learn about other faith traditions and denominations and serve as Jr Deacons during worship on the first Sunday of the month.

During the summer, we offer a Sunday School for all ages that includes bible stories, peace and social justice themes, and a variety of craft projects and activities. In September, we begin the new Sunday school year with a potluck supper and other reconnecting activities.
