My New Role
I am so excited that my journey has brought me to Cleveland Park Congregational Church as a seminary intern.  This year is going to be filled with excitement and learning.

I grew up in the United Church of Christ in Minnesota at Wayzata Community Church where my mother and father were both active.  When I came to college at American University my family and I visited Cleveland Park Congregational Church.  When my husband, Ben and I were engaged three years later, this warm, small, brick church was the first one that occurred to me as the perfect spot for our wedding.  I came back to CPC and have been involved every since.

In fall of 2006 I began my studies at Lancaster Theological Seminary, a reformed seminary of the United Church of Christ, where I am working towards my Masters of Divinity.  This is a three year, full time program that is one of the major steps in the ordination process in the United Church of Christ.  Thank you to my family and everyone at CPC who has helped me discern my calling to ministry.

I look forward to the start of classes this fall and my field education work at Cleveland Park Congregational United Church of Christ.  My work will include: working on the new Vespers service; continued involvement in the young adult ministry; growing in my preaching, pastoral care and christian education development with the support and guidance of Pastor Fuller and Pastor Torgerson.

To India!

Wheels up – Monday, January 7th at 8:00 pm for the 18 hour flight to India and I can’t wait!!!  Let the adventure begin.
I am leaving for a three week cross cultural trip with my seminary class to explore the interaction of multiple faiths and their coexistence in the most populated country in the world.  We will arrive on January 9th, having spent the 8th airborne, in Mumbai (previously Bombay).   We will explore the city visiting with the Bishop of the Church of North India.  We then travel to Bangalore where we spend six days at United Theological College, one of the largest seminaries of the Church of South India.  During our time there we will explore the community work of UTC, hear lectures from their faculty and visit some of the local villages.
On January 17th we continue to travel south to Trivandrum and Kanyakumari at the southernmost tip of India where we will visit an area devastated by the Tsunami.  Global Ministries, the world ministry partnership program of the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ has been hard at work and we will see some homes recently rebuilt for victims.  Then we will spend the weekend hosted by a local congregation in home-stays.
January 21st we depart for Madurai where we will be staying at Tamil Nadu Theological Seminary.  We will spend our time worshiping and studying with faculty and students there.  Finally, on the 24th we will travel to Chennai (previously Madras) where we will visit an orphanage, St. Thomas Cathedral and make final preparations for our departure home on January 28th.
I look forward to sharing many pictures and stories about my experiences in India when I return.  I will preach both worship services on Sunday, February 3rd.
