Open and Affirming

Cleveland Park Congregational Church United Church of Christ is an Open and Affirming congregation that welcomes into full membership persons of every race, language, age, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability and economic level.

Sermons

Don Clarke, a member of Cleveland Park Congregational Church, recounted his experience as a gay man and the exclusion from faith communities that he, his partner, Bruce, and friends suffered in the past. He also shared their joy at the extravagant welcome they found at our church and impressed on us the need to continue to reach out to those whom churches have alienated and hurt in the past.

Reverend Laura Jean Torgerson, Pastor of Youth and Family Life, shares her theological and pastoral reasons for our congregation to become fully inclusive of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered people in her sermon from January 2007.
